Nine Dart 501 Finishes Updated 23/09/01

I was drinking down the club the other night and talking darts, when the subject of the magical nine dart 501 came up.

My friend Geoff. 'Ten Dart Willmott' said that he felt that, when he missed Bullseye when on a 161 finish, after starting a double start match with 160, followed by a score of 180, it was a bigger disappointment than when he registered a ten dart game. He eventually went on to win the match that he missed the 161 in, by 2 legs to 0, but lost the match where he had the ten darter by 2 legs to 1.

Anyway, we both wondered how many nine dart 501 permutations there were, without counting the different ways which you could get the scores and finishes. For example : there are 16 different ways to finish on 141.

Below are the 61 combinations that I can think of. Yes! 61 combinations. So, next time your dart is hanging out of the treble, do not panic, there are other options on the board.
