180s: Wickford; Tom Woods, Dave Solly and Keith Weller [x2]
Brentwood; George Harris
The highest shot-out on the
night was 106 by John Sutton against Dean Johns
Keith Weller scored both of his
180s in his second leg after going a leg down.
This was the first time that
the Wickford & District League had played against the Brentwood &
District Dart League and hopefully not the last. The match was played on three
boards, with two being used for Singles matches and one for the Pairs matches.
Brentwood took the early lead by winning the first two Singles matches and two
out of three of the Pairs matches. Eight wins in the singles and two in the
Pairs then put Wickford 10-5 in front
at half way in the match. Brentwood
came back with two singles victories and one pairs to narrow the gap to within
two games, but were unable to win
another pairs and only won three of the remaining eight singles matches. Neil
Nagle, Brentwood’s Captain did have the consolation of winning the last singles and some of the
scorelines do not truly reflect the closeness of the match. I only managed to
see parts of matches, but one sticks out in my mind, the pairs match between Dave Solly & Doug Gerrard and
George Harris & Rob Pod. Dave opened with 180 and then scores below 80
didn’t count. Thanks for your support and remember, that if we play Brentwood
again, the match will be on their night (Tuesday) and at one of their venues,
so who knows what will happen.
Records Secretary, Roy Harvey.
